Default Purchase Trans......#2

We were told that PT was only going to be used at end of month rush. Funny though, the dock was loading one up tonight...lets see....November 4th is a tad shy of end of month. Few years ago, there was no problem getting freight to hub. Most days, city drivers would run a turn and burn to hub. But, OPS is afraid to send them up before road bids. Therefore, they are paying an outside carrier to haul the freight because they arent smart enough to realize they don't have to re-invent the wheel.

We have been using PTs a lot at the end of month for two reasons that Ive been told. 1 we dont have the drivers to cover them 2 we would be hauling back empty. We have had to run more laydowns that are heading east. We have sent drivers out expecting to meet and turn only to get there and find out they have to run through since the east coast doesnt have enough drivers to meet. I remember getting kicked out at 6 and 8hrs to turn chicago or dayton. I hated it but it payed good. Anymore seems like all the company is trying to do is reinvent the wheel.

It's the thing that holds those tires that you need to get changed before every trip, since no one ever does a post trip.

To many people in Harrison are in a state of their mind games with themselves and have lost all touch of reality. Why do they have to make it so complicated to move freight up and down the road. Why does the freight have an extra 120 miles past a SC only to come back the next morning late. Aren't we in the business to serve the people that give us the freight! "If I had an idea that would save the company 10,000,000 a year they would not listen to me because I'm from the west and my pay check is smaller than there's".
But this only my opinion and they want me to be pro active or engaged. let's bring in 50 60 more Pt's and let our boys sit at home and lay more of our dockworkers/ drivers off.
