The compition is fierce. Everyone is undercutting everyone. Only a matter of time before one or two ltl companys fail. I don't how we are making a profit. 70% used to be a good discount now I am seeing the high 80's

Simple supply and demand. Yes there will be more freight for the remaining carriers, but there will be a huge over supply of qualified workers, therefore driving down wages and benefits.

We need to hope and pray that they remain and/or return as a competitive force. Otherewise, we are all screwed.

Unfortunately they have already been bringing down the wages with the givebacks, look at how many co's followed right along.

Most will find jobs at other carriers if they were to fail, there will still be the same amount of freight regardless of who is hauling it.

I wish them no ill but at the same time I can see the effect that them staying in and taking cuts is causing all around, they have always said they set the wage and when they accept less the others want to follow suit.

Now you've done it. The poor spellers are coming out and the spelling police are pounding on the door.
The word is competition.

The trucking business has always been and will always be a tough business. If the situation was reversed and we were treading water, you can bet your bottom dollar that YRC would be doing the same thing we're doing right now.

YRC has several problems. Just for openers, Zollars and friends bought Roadway and Reddaway for around 3.2 billion dollars and accrued all the dept. What was he thinking? All they gained was market share. Now they are busy trying to keep as much cash on hand as possible. The reason for this is all the assets have been sold off. The first time they have to go to the bank to make payroll, the bank is going to say no and that will close the doors. That's the same thing that happen to CF.

Another problem YRC is having is with middle management. You have Yellow and Roadway middle management who don't work together very well costing the company more money with poor planning and dispatching. If they make it to the second quarter of next year, I'll be surprised. That's too bad for the working class, but its a fact of like. You only get two guarantees, and that's death and taxes.

The "oversupply" of qualified workers will be tainted by the dreaded "union" association. I have heard several other carriers drivers, including my own SCM say they wouldn't hire former union drivers.
