From the conference call:
Quote:
"Jason Seidl - Credit Suisse - Analyst
Okay. Thank you, Chris. On the freight side, Doug, did FedEx National lose money again in the quarter or did you guys reach break even?"
"Doug Duncan - FedEx - President, CEO FedEx Freight
David, it's impossible to break that out now that would give you anything constructive to use. These networks are managed together, they interchange shipments, they share the same IT, they share the same sales force. So we're managing these together now, so that now that we've got the year-over-year comparables in Q2, I think that's the right way to look at for the entire business segment."

This is such a load of BS. The truth is that National is bleeding money profusely. Revenue up 1% and profits down 43%?!?!? National is nothing but an open wound. They know exactly what FedEx National is doing (or in this case, isn't doing) because they run the networks and terminals separately.
The truth is that they screwed up buying Watkins. The separate networks are causing nothing but confusion and headaches for customers. They are losing long-haul LTL freight to irregular-route truckload carriers and 3PL's.
