Let's talk about maintenance issues. At our end of the line terminal we are having some major issues. It is like pulling teeth trying to get our equipment worked on. We write up equipment problems over and over again. Doors aren't closing right, windows aren't rolling up right. We had a truck with a power steering issue that took six months before they finally had it fixed. The same truck (a tandem axle) has a power divider problem that has been written up for months and still it isn't fixed. Air leaks go unfixed. We have a truck that P&D has been driving for a week with no windshield wipers. The P&D drivers don't seem to care. Their philosophy is if it starts and stops they drive it. They send the trucks to a vendor where they sit for 3 or 4 weeks at a time. When they come back half of the problems they went over there are still not fixed. Things that do get fixed are not fixed right. Anyone else having these problems or are they unique to our terminal? I hear that Freight is going to take over our maintenance soon. I wonder if there is any truth to that or is it only a rumor.
