Did everyone recieve their pearls of wisdom from Fred Smith in the "From the Chairman" newsletter? Looks like the red-headed stepchild (that of course being National) was mentioned:

"Another example of collaboaration: FedEx National LTL offered a better price to one of its major international electronics customers if the firm would use our express and ground services as well as freight. The result was a good deal for the customer and a 50-percent increase in revenue for FedEx."

See why it becomes harder for pure-play LTL's to compete with integrarted parcel/LTL operations like FedEx and UPS? And the reason why UPS paid a healthy premium for Overnite?
So there may be hope for us yet...not that I'm gonna stick around and find out. Really, all they need to do is get rid of all the useless pre-Watkins redshirts who have no respect for our customers' freight...starting with IMMEDIATE across-the-board terminations at all the breaks. Yup...hit the road Jack and don't ya' come back no more no more no more no more...best mosey on over to Estes, Saia, Conway, etc and destroy all their customers freight.
That would be a
red-letter day in my calender for sure!
