A pay period with no miles.
Ever since the news of the acquisition I've been optimistic. Since FedEx accuired AF and Vicking in what,2001??,they became # 2 in revenue behind Yellow in just 5 years in LTL freight. We've heard great opportunities National will bring to the customer and us employees. I believe it is going to be better than Watkins was, and we all know Watkins was pretty damn good too. Just going through a pay period with no miles, it's getting harder to swallow the koolaid I've mixed for myself here.
I know certain circumstances are factors. A slow down in freight is probably the biggest.
However two things that I question since the acqusition are this. Why did FedEx get rid of the city contractors? I've heard that caused a decrease in freight P&D. The other thing is why 2 weeks before Chistmas did Hub operations go to FedEx Freight? Couldn't this have waited till after the new year? I know I run team, but overflow Hub worked out to our advantage more times than not.
As for no pay check the 28th I'll get a holiday bump to cover Insurance, and I've got a little stashed...not as much as a LTL driver should have. The Bankers and metermen won't be snachin my s__t anyway.
I still think FedEx will better for all of us.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year,
