Default End of an era

With the move of the socal break to Fontana from La Mirada by the current ownership, an era of history has passed in the west coast ltl marketplace. I know for me it was a sad day to see some coworkers that I"ve worked with for the last several years be let go. Good luck to all that were affected. I wanted to put this in the GI forum for those that still have a little of that red, white and blue blood left.

Come on there bro. You are talking about Estes here. They don't lay anyone off. They starve you, or rif you. Rif is a legal term for termination. Estes never met a loophole they didn't exploit. Teamster Elvis out......

The number I was told was 38 from the dock which included supe's, dockworkers and managers when they moved the breakbulk to Fontana effective this past monday. I know at least some were told it was a rif but if rehired within a year they would retain their payscale, vacation and so forth.

I wouldnt belive that. Why rif them then and not lay them off. Oh yes that is right they are worried about people like Elvis putting another movement in. Why not transfer employees to Fontana, not to far to drive to work. Oh thats right it is E and they can hire new employees and go thru alot of damage while they are training.

I wonder if this has something to do with the movement before? I wonder how many of the ones let go voted yes? If this is in retaliation for what went on down there is it legal?
