Question Please excuse all the questions but?

"Less than Truckload" requires you stop along a route and drop freight?

Is that always solid stuff like on pallets ETC.?or part of a load from a tanker?

If this board is not frequented by "over the road truckers" is there another board where I can find a different prospective?

I don't want to make anyone angry but I'd like to get this occupational change in my life right?

Also a driver I recently met told me that without HazMat endorsement loads are few and far between.

Will increased fuel taxes mean a harder time earning a living as a driver? (I've already financially committed myself).

Beginner,
For the most part LTL is done by Companies like Yellow, Roadway, ABF, Holland, FedExFrt, Conway, etc. They all have an elaborate terminal system in which they consolidate many shipments on a trailer and then relay loads from place to place for delivery by city drivers. The LTL Companies generally have road drivers, city drivers and dockhands (who load and unload the freight) Our freight wouldn't be on a tanker, although we all haul small tanks or totes that have chemicals in them. But they would be just another shipment on a trailer. We haul almost anything that doesn't need refrigeration. There are some small Companies who specialize in frozen or refrigerated LTL but their drivers really aren't on this board, not that they wouldn't be welcome here.

A Hazmat endorsement will be required to work for any of the Companies who's drivers post here.

If you're a driver the high cost of fuel shouldn't affect you. If you own your own tractor it will.

You're not making anyone angry. We hope that anything you see here will help you.

As Dude said your not being a problem, nothing wrong with asking questions.

Whether you go long or ltl or tank or even bull hauler or refrigerated your more than welcome to hang around and ask questions or just shoot the bull.

Good Luck

Hazmat is an easy endorsment anyway. Any union LTL doesn't require you to touch any freight, so no worries there.

LTL freight is not really a bad deal because U make money on stops and wait time at each stop.

Ive been driving for 18years and never had hasmat endorsment and never been shorted on freight....

Yes. fuel prices and fuel taxes will effect ur profit margin if ur an owner operator but if ur a company driver it doesn't matter

Keep asking questions that is hown u learn and no question is stupid, if need be u can ask mme in private chat.....T
