Red face Co driver or O/O??

Hey guys,

Well Im looking for some info. / advice.. I am currently a mixer driver with a class A doubles and triples and tankers endorsments.

I am interested in hauling regional. Reefer, tankers with no hazmat, flatbed, no matter.. I am just wondering why its so hard to get in without the 2yr OTR experience unless I want to buy one of their trucks? Which leads me to my next tangent, whats better, Co. driver or O/O?

I don't mind the O/O part as I have a mind to manage a business, yet I am GREEN to the industry and don't want to get taken. I see freight brokers out there and seem to understand what they are about and I think there are companies out there to handle the accounting department for me... So what gives?

Hell I don't mind hauling dirt neither, like I see a lot of guys out here doing with their own tractors..

Any insight is appreciated.

In such a cut throat industry I would say go company.O/O only gives you the satasifaction of being able to say you own it. As a company driver they have to fix it and they want to make money so you will run.An O/O wil have to want the run and you will have to be picky about the cost of the run. Nothing wrong with wanting to be an O/O but remember what ever you make as an O/O you must share with the truck.Big pay numbers look good on paper but one tire can take a big slice of the pie away from ya.
