Are you referring to a diabetes condition or a pre diabetes condition? You will give a urine sample which will be tested for among other things that particular condition. Be sure and mention it at the time of the physical.

I took a physical once after eating breakfast and having generous amounts of soft drink as well. That caused the blood sugar level to rise to unacceptable levels and as a result I was given a shortened length for my physical to apply (one year as opposed to two).

I thought if you have to have injections, that would disqualify a driver.
Maybe you can go to pills.
Good luck

That's right. My father is diabetic and drove for years while taking pills to keep his blood sugar level under control. As soon as he started taking injections, he was told that he could no longer drive. He's still tore up over it, because he's been driving trucks since Vietnam.

First...welcome to Truckingboards

Now as to your question......
Quote:
Diabetes.
If insulin is necessary to control a diabetic driver's condition, the driver is not qualified to operate a commercial motor vehicle in interstate commerce. If mild diabetes is present and it is controlled by use of an oral hypoglycemic drug and/or diet and exercise, it should not be considered disqualifying. However, the driver must remain under adequate medical supervision.
From the FMCSA web site

So hopefully yours can be controlled orally.

Best of luck and come back and let us know how you are doing.
