Default American truck drivers thing of the past?

I predict mexicans will take over this industry and quickly. Once they get in, no one can compete with there prices. Remember the 100 companies is a drop in the bucket to start it out. If I remember correctly, they estimate 30,000 mexican trucks a day will cross into the US.

If the United States Government lets our country's trucking go to cheap labor.
Than where are they going to find people that make enough money,to pay the taxes to keep our government in their jobs?

Has any of these government folks ever thought they may start having layoffs in the congress, and senate.
because US citizens are all on welfair, not paying any taxes.

Here I'm just a simple minded trucker, and I've thought about this idea.
Has all the government people lost there marbles allowing this cheap trucking into our country?

It's hard to tell right now. Unfortunately, there will be people that will lose their lives, their will be more attempts for illegal immigrants to enter the country, and a flow of more drugs before some politician that voted yes on this plan realizes it was a mistake. Very much like most of them are doing now about the Iraqi war. If the wages go down for drivers, I predict there will be even a worse driver shortage than the current situation. Those that are old enough will retire, those that are young enough will find another career, and maybe some owner/ops will sell their trucks. Who knows? Will the industry lower it's standards to keep trucks moving? I'm sure that the insurance industry will bend to some extent, but not enough to keep greedy company owners happy. Another point that isn't coming up is the safety of American drivers on Mexican roads. How many drivers are going to risk their lives in another country for less $$$? There are a lot of questions that remain to be answered that the Bush administration is either choosing to ignore or just didn't think of while they were figuring out how much money they could make off of it. We'll see what happens on Mar. 8, but I have a feeling that this will push forward with a "let's see what happens" attitude.

The government never lays off, they will just look for new ways to steal your money and get bigger and bigger. The ultimate point of hypocracy. The governemt is forcing tobacco companies to spend billions in anti-smoking campaigns but are disappointed at the amount of tobacco taxes paid last year. Solution, raise the taxes.
The government knew this was going to happen. This plan was instituted when NAFTA was signed. Open boarders. They cannot wait to get up here, and none of us wants to drive down there.

Default Throw the bums out !

I'm 30 days out from beginning my driver training at the Georgia Driving Academy. My dad has been an OTR driver for over 20 years. At first I thought it was just bad timing that I've made the decision to become a truck driver after having read all of the comments regarding the impending flood of Mexican drivers. But now, I'm just pissed off enough to stay committed to my career path and try to do something about it. It blows my mind that there are actually people in high places that believe that flooding our roads with Mexican drivers is a good idea. What's the battle plan, where do I sign up?
