I gotta tell you. I would never want a job in management in this business. Not only do you have to deal with a bunch of whining truck drivers (myself included ) but you've also got to deal with the unreasonable demands from above.

The stress is just too much in that job. Does anyone know a TM that does not smoke and drink a lot?

I was curious as to the pay for such a job? The stress would be high that's why I thought the pay might be high (battle pay)

I'm with you here CFer I'm in my 44th year running a city route with my 16th LTL trucking company.
Over these many years I've had a chance to slide into a dispatchers job twice.
My answer both times was the same.
You couldn't pay me enough for me to give up what littile sanity I have left.
No sir not even $150.00 per hour would be worth it to me to wind up in an early grave,or a rubber room to retire in.

Besides I'm still have so much fun playing in traffic,I can't see myself looking at four walls, and married to the telephone day in,and day out.

I'm only guessing here but to be Operations Supv I would think you'd need some time first as a dispatcher, inbound supv or outbound supv. LTL is its own little system that takes time to learn. Low level supv's maybe 40-50k, ops supv maybe 50-60k. Possibly more with alot of experience and seniority? We have a driver who went to inbound for a few years and was very good at it then went back to driving. Too much BS, driving was less stress and more money. Hours usually suck as just like drivers seniority gets the best shift. Some can feel free to counterdict any of this.
