Default Whine of Turbo, problem or just a Big Truck sound?

My turbo, as of late is sounding more and more like the siren of a firetruck. I've taken it to mechanics, and they can't hear it so what to do about the problem before I'm stuck out with a blown turbo or is it a problem? I'm going to take it easy until it's obvious i have a problem, this way I will have enough $$ saved to pay for it

GK,
It might be that one of the the big, hose type clamps leading into or going out of the turbo are a little loose.....maybe. If that's the case at some point they'll let out too much air or break completely and you'll smoke terribly and have almost no power. If there's been a change in sound at all something is wrong.

GK
After you check the clamps, check the intake and discharge hoses for holes or cracks. Another place to check is your air charger (if so equipted) in front of your radiator for holes or cracks. Air leaks from any of these areas can really increase the turbo "whistle".
Good luck and drive safe.

have you changed air filters lately if so maybe your engine is breathing better.that will cause a whine depending on the type of filter unit that you use. I know the big twins on the KW I had would sound like a jet plane taking off when I put new filters in.
