How is your companies freight level?

Just wondering how other companies were running? We seem to be picking up here at ABF. At least at my barn anyway. I hope everyone is picking up.

I'm with conway and here in fresno ca. we've been slammed. I dont know if this is system wide or just us. In the last 3 months we've hired 10 new guys (4 drivers,6 students). Have a nice day.

At my barn at UPS Freight we have 4 more drivers then we did last year at this time.
Everyone is working.
last year one guy wasn't getting a full weeks worth of work,and some of us drivers were taking vacation days off to help him get some time in.

So with these drivers all working this must mean we are hauling more freight now.

I'm at a large Midwest hub and it's LOW. I'm a combo driver and if there's any available OT, we should be getting it, but we keep getting the "oh, the freight season is on it's way anytime now and they're will be plenty of OT soon enough" line. Hell, when I got back from my gift basket road run last night all the 42-48' vans were lined up empty in the yard-WTF? I've never seen them all at once in one place like that and it was freaky weird.

I think it might be just the economy in general but maybe it wouldn't hurt to lower prices a bit or something, to become more competitive. A small part of me is also pissed about 4 layers of redundant MANAGEMENT we have to pay for. I mean geez, how many Asst. Manager for Road Safety of Loss Prevention blah blah do we need?

I run linehaul for Vitran/Chris truck lines Wichita ,ks. We've been picking up lately! It's just that time of year spring is here then we normally hit a slump in late summer.

In the northeast UPSF has been slammed and we are hiring drivers left and right.
