Default CDLin another state

i tried searching but no luck...

does anyone know what the process is for getting a commercial drivers license in another state?
mines is from california and i would like to move to nevada, do i just go to the dmv over there and get a new one or do i have to do road/written tests again? and how about my haz-mat endorsement?

also will any local or ltl companies let me work, say the dock or even drive a truck for a while with my out of state license pending my in state license?

thanks in advance...

i changed states one time. from what i remember it's as simple as going to the license center and handing in your old license. i'm sure there was a small fee involved also. i'm pretty sure it was all done in one visit. the one test i had to take was for hazmat.

A buddy of mine got his CDL in CA. His class-a transferred over here (WI) but his haz-mat and tanker endorsements didn't. He would have had to retake the endorsement tests but he didn't need them anymore.

Another friend of mine had a florida class-a with passenger endorsement, but he just kept his florida liscense and a limo company hired him.

I have no idea for NV though... It looks like every state is different.

Every state has it's own set of rules. Try finding Nevada's DMV or Secretary of State online. I'm pretty sure that they have a website with the information you're looking for.
