| | Urine test
My wife just sent me an e-mail from work and I wanted to share it with you all, makes perfect sense to me. What do you think?
Like a lot of folks in this state I have a job. I work, they pay me. I pay
my taxes and the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit. In order to
get that paycheck, I am required to pass a random urine test, with which I
have no problem.
What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people who
don't have to pass a urine test. Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to
get a welfare check because I have to pass one to earn it for them??
Please understand, I have no problem with helping people get back on their
feet. I do on the other hand have a problem with helping someone sitting on
their butt, can
you imagine how much money the state would save if people
had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance check?????

| | It all depends on how long they give you to study for it. How many questions and are they true/false , multiple choice or do you have to write out an essay for each question ?
Actually,All kidding aside,I applied about ten years or so ago when I was off work and they refused to give me food stamps (thats all I wanted) because they said I made too much money the year before.I said to the girl My family is starving now and all she could say in a smart a s s way was why didn't ya save up.
I wanted to smack the living daylights out of her but I knew that wouldn't accomplish anything. |

Welfare was a good thing years back when it was used for mothers with children that needed food supplments ( I remember the big blocks of cheese and canned beef )
Over the years it turned into a system that gave too much free money out and not enough ways to gain needed skills to stand on your own two feet.
I do think the screening process should be made a bit more extensive, but a urine test isn't the way to go.

I hear you loud and clear, i think it would be a good idea to test, whats the harm? If you are using illegal drugs then you don't get your check period. If I use illegal drugs I don't get to work for my pay. I hate to think I am paying for someone to buy crack, heck some may say the kids will suffer, I think not, those drugs come first before the kids anyhow. The more I think about it the more I like the idea.

Thats an interesting thought GT. I've never really thought about it but I do tend to agree with you on this.
