I remember back in the early eightys when I was making a pickup at a business east of my Rochester, NY Overnite terminal.
It was a cold snowy winter day.
I'd backed down a ramp, and had a hard time getting out.
I saw tire tracks on the flat to my left, and decided to try going that way across a field to another business, then down their driveway.
Well I hung the left, and just as I was going straight,my tractor drive tires went down in some water.
I soon found out I was on a small pond.
The tire tracks were from a pickup truck, that had got stuck like me on the ramp.
It took two large wreckers, with winches, and another four wheel drive truck to get me out.
It was such a long drawn out hassel, you'd never get me on any ice over water again.
I could never relate to anyone driving across water deep enough to sink a rig.
But I know what its like to think your safe, when the ice brecks leaving you completely helpless.
