truck drivers pay sucks After a little less than 3 months driving, I have found that for the time spent driving plus the prep time, detention time, drop and hook time, paperwork and log time, time
spent fueling, waiting and waiting in line
for all of the above, that driving amounts to
a little more than minimum wage job. There
seems to be too many drivers willing to accept too little cpm or hourly rate for the
responsibility, time and experience that they
provide. I saw that of the approximate 3 million drivers that less that 150,000 are members of Owners Operators organizations
and unions. Truckers have the power to
change freight rates and corresponding
pay upwards if they organize and communicate with each other. I am
grateful for the $3000 per month I make but
frustrated that it is not double or triple that
amount as it should be for the time and responsibility that I have to invest. Your
thoughts on a reasonable monthly gross.
My amount is 6 to 9000 a month. |
