How can you have so many new drivers, when you read about so many drivers being laid-off at some of the other big outfits???
The economy had a slow first quarter.
The stock market is at an all time high, except for a 2% hick up this past week.
Everybody and their grandmother is hoping for a full 10% correction to get fully invested.
The second quarter is not starting out to swell either.
Stock market can be deceiving as a gauge because the only companies having big gains are multinationals that have overseas sales and operations.
Could be that some LTL freight is transitioning to other carriers that can be depended on in 2008.

Jeff,
If I had a job, I'd be glad to tell you. Waiting this long to get called from USF, and others, I'd say low. I guess what ever companies report on paper, but who really knows at this point in and around Chicago.

The inbound is still there but the outbound freight is from hunger. I used to do maybe 8 - 10 pickups in any giuven afternoon. I could easily blow out two pups and maybe get started on a third. Now, I am lucky to see a half to three quarters of a pup. Some of this is because it's really slow but most of it is because my customers have either moved down south, to Mexico or gone out of business altogether.
