oh i get it, the old ARMY commercial, "its not just a job, its an ADVENTURE"..........
well you're going to get some upfront speak from me..............
first, no matter how well you and hubby get along, that truck ain't never gonna be big enough when you two are P'od at each other........
next, the are so many inconviences, where do i start...??
hmmm.......let's see, no bathrooms when you really "gotta go"...........no showers till you stop for fuel, then buy enough fuel for the showers to be free. then the shower rooms themselves, DO NOT SIT ON ANY bench, chair, stool, whatever....!! you don't know what someone else "left behind", because i'm telling you now, all shower rooms are not as clean as your home......... they may "smell clean", but that's masking all the germs/bacteria left behind.
what else, oh yeah, food, beverages. don't expect to pay mac donalds prices. expect to pay about $150.00 per person, per week. eveen if you buy a fridge, have storage closets for food, etc's, you can only cary so much with you. and if either of you like to snack, add about an extra $50.00 per week each for snacks.
what else, oh yeah, TRAFFIC, of all kinds, 24/7, 365 days per year. there is no let up on this. construction up the yahzoo, delays, missed appointments, sitting for an extra day because you were late, or someone just had to play the video games at the truckstop.
shippers who say they have "hot freight", recievers who say they "needed it yesterday"...........only to find both are lying to you. they just want it off thier docks, and you are the rolling warehouse... can you say "no pay for this"..??
dispatchers who will also tell you "its hot, gotta go, gotta go".............
you get there, and the customer says, "i told them i didn't WANT IT till next week".....
you'll run your butt's off, you'll not eat right, you'll not sleep right, you'll not poop right, you'll not always shower, you'll not always get along, you'll not always make your appointments, you'll not always drive in clear weather, you'll not always have toll money, you'll not always be with-in the legal weight limits, you'll not always find the place you're trying to get to, you'll always be trying to satisfy the dispatcher so you can get better paying loads, and many, many more things.
you see, everybody "likes to drive"...........
but its NOT AN ADVENTURE..........
IT'S A JOB...............
