Default cdl pretest (permit)

i am racking my brain here i think i am ready yo go to dmv and try for my permit(s) for cdl "a" with air endorsement, the only site i can find the offeres free "pretests" that are of any value is at layover.com and here are my scores as follows general knowlage 50 questions 94%, combonations 20 questions 96% and air (witch is the one i have the hardest time understanding) 30 questions with a score of 88%, i don't know what pass is and i really don't want to go in and fail, also is this the amount of questions that you really take or is it more/less than the amouts that i have mentioned. also having the permit on my own, will this help me get hired? or will it not matter?

as far as the test goes i beleave its 30 questions for general knowledge,20 questions each for air brake and combinations.I think the passing score is 80 percent to pass.If you dont know the answer when you go test skip that question and go to the next.If you get 80 percent before you answer all the question your done. You only can skip the question two times before you have to answer it but try to save the harder qusetion for last you probably dont have to answer or it dosent matter if you have 80 perccent already.I want to say having a permit matter for schneider or swift, you need one to start there school.Permit dosn't mean anything for ltl companies, you need license.

Try to do it where they use computers, some still do it on paper, for the hazmat the computer is the way to go they give you pics, when I came to Arkansas, I had to get a new license and had to take the hazmat portion of the test, I thought I knew hazmat, I barly passed, last time I did it on computer I got 98%.
