Default scales

i saw today coming down i 75 north of tampa today that the scale were open most trucks pulled in but some did not, nor were they chased down. why is that? i thought if the scales are open you had best pull in.

I only go in if I get a red light and hear a rapid beeping tone or nothing. Otherwise its hammer down. They have not sent a cop after me yet.

Not sure what the technical name is but I think its called scale pass. Its like easy pass and it registers your weight while driving in a certain lane. Some companys have it and others don't.Some states honor it and others don't.

The red light or the rapid beeping sound is enclosed in a "PrePass" scale transponder. It attaches to the inside of the windshield like most Tollroad toll transponders.
They're plastic and if a "PrePass" site or scales senses that your tractor trailer is under weight (scale plates in the pavement)it'll send a signal to the transponder giving you the "Go on By" light which is green. If your questionable it'll give you the red light to "Come on in".
The company or whoever has to subscribe to this service and to be compliant and to have a decent safety record too .
