A newbie's questions for Ontario (especially Ottawa) drivers

Hi,

I am new to the forum. I find myself unemployed. Having always wanted to be a truck driver, I am considering this career. I have some questions for Ontario truck drivers:

I am looking for long distance US routes, preferably to California, Flordia, or Texas, from Ontario, preferably from near Ottawa. Perhaps refrigerated produce? I noticed there aren't too many trucking companies based in Ottawa. What are my job prospects at this time? What would my prospects be in Southern Ontario. Am I pretty much guaranteed a job if I get the licence?

Also, what would a typical schedule be for someone with regular routes to California for instance?

I'm no expert but I think Daimler/Chrysler does parts runs back and forth from Ontario to the states(Detroit)

I'm pretty clueless about Ottawa though.
