A Class B cdl is for anything that doesn't pull a trailer over 26,001 lbs.

Class B jobs include and are not limited to:

Cement Mixers, Dump Trucks, Garbage Trucks, Straight Trucks, School Buses (w/ P endorsement), Concrete Pumper Trucks, and I know I am probably missing some......

If you get into a Class B driving job, you can make just as much money as an OTR TL driver easily, plus be home everyday.

Hope this helps.

Anytime bro.

P.S. if you want to laugh out loud to prodrivers1 comment about it not being possible to make 90k a year, google 'nmfa'. Our wages are right there in black and white, and it is very possible after you reach scale.

PM me if you need to.

James.

Default hello again big robbowski

i appreciate your help ;) i did a goggle under nmfa. and soem of the sites mentioned that yo u can make good money with nmfa but you have to start out workng the docks and then a couple of yrs down the road if yo u get picked t o drive for the m you will make good money. so my question is is this true ? what does a person start out making an hour working for nmfa? can you drive class b trucks for them . how much do they make to start? does nmfa hire people just out of school t o drive for the m right away? thank you for your help. im kind of leaning towards going t o get my class b licence and seeing what kind of money i can make with that and then maybe go and get my class a but not sure yet about driving overnights yet . but then again i heard today that you need experience usuall y for class b driving jobs and i wont have any , just out of school i will be . now hopefully someone will hire me while im in school anyways this is all new t o me , im sure once i get i nthe swing of things i might be ok. have a great day :)

What up wanttobetrucker.I can answer your question on my behalf of the trucking world.I work for allied waste.I drive garbage trucks which require only a class b license.I been there a little over three months.I got hire a few months out of school.I started out at 16 dollars.A 2 dollar raise after 90 days. The way the contract set up we get a raise every six months. The top scale drivers get 60 cent in march, then get another 40 cents in august.By me being new i might get a dollar or more every six months until i catch up to scale pay.It takes three years to reach scale pay.Scale for me will be 27.65 an hour.It might go up a dollar depends on the next contract in 2009 from rumors. That's pretty good money there for being a class b driver.I work about 50 hours a week,so when i reach scale that will be over 76,000 a year.If i work 60 hours a week that will bring me to over 96,000 a year.So you can make alot of money, better than any TL otr.Probably better than any city driving LTL company.Driving a garbage truck isn't for everyone the work can be demanding some days. This info may can help you.The pay scale will vary in others states depend on unions, cost of living,etc,etc..You still should want to get a class A license with all of the endorsements. It will only give you more options, never know when you might need it.It may help you land a class b job with no experience.I feel lucky i got hire with no experience.Having a class A maybe help me get hire on.We even have former drivers from conway working there. They are happy with there class b job.
