Default Mature drivers program like Schneider

I am planning to be a professional truck driver after I retire at age 52. I see that Schneider has a Mature Workers program for people over 50. Do you know of any other companies that offer something similar to this? Also is Schneider a good company to work for?

I guess it beats the usual Schneider "We'll hire anyone with a pulse & can breathe workers program." Schneider is no different from every other OTR company. They can call their orientation whatever they want, but it's all the same.

I would ask pro1driver he seems to be up on alot of this sort of thing, get alot more opinions, I personally have heard good and bad about them, some have been there a long time, I don't know much about them but ask pro1 driver, at least he can steer you in the right direction.

I spend 16 years with Schneider and have nothing, but good things to say about them.

When I started with them they didn't even have the computers in the trucks and all their trucks were cabovers! In fact I was one of the first to get the conventionals when they ordered them.

I left the trucking industry and started my own company now, but the road still calls my name :)

Schneider's a great company, benefits are great, opportunities within the company are great, and all their facilities are first class.

Have you been in other companies facilities? They don't compare.

There's other great companies out there too though. Don't just take my word on Schneider. Check around. What I say comes from my personal experience.

BTW I didn't go thru the Schneider training program...I paid for training out of my own pocket at the tune of $6500 for 9 weeks of training. I can't comment on their training program, but if they still have the skid pad training...that's great.

So what is a mature drivers program?
I've never heard of such a thing?

I'm 63 &1/2 going on 45 years of city driving.
Would I be a good canidate for this program?
