well let me say it "this way".............

the so-called "horror stories" can be true, but then, none of us were there to witness anything. and in fact, we cannot simply believe someone who says, "my buddy (or whatever) saw it happen too"..........its "hearsay".

that being said, EVERYONE has a horror story, but why....? was it because the driver had an important appointment, but either forgot to inform dispatch, or the dispatch forgot to remember...???

if you are 3,000 miles away, and its friday, but you needed to be home for an appointment on monday, do you think you'll make it there in time (and legally)....???

one person's "horror story" can just be sour-grapes. everyone wants their cake, and then be able to eat it as well.........

so when someone can't eat thier cake, they cry foul...............

Pro1driver's post makes the most sense of any answer I've ever heard on this particular topic.

Are there trucking companies out there that are unfair to their employees, odds are thats true but the OTR driver is their own worst enemy at times because they allowed themselves to get "ripped off" and abused.

You must be aware that there are cry babies in every industry. Trucking seems to have more than its fair share though. Good drivers will be valuable assets to whatever company they go with and rise to the top just as poor drivers (ones with poor attitudes and work habits will grouse and complain no matter what company they work for).Understanding the job and the duties will go along way towards addressing these "issues." A trucking company has a vested interest in keeping their drivers happy. That said a company is in business to satisfy the needs of their customers as well as their drivers you cant have 1 without the other its a symbiotic relationship. Remember life is what you make of it and there are a dozen people that would love to have the job and pay you are currently earning just itching for a shot at your spot.
