Default Why the preaching to the choir...??

you know what i mean..........

c'mon, you know EXACTLY what i mean.....

oh, come, come now, don't be quiet now, when you preach to the chior nearly every day at truck stops, recievers, shippers, or "letter's to the editor" at some Trucking magazines, and even sometimes here as well............

oh, ok, i guess i gotta give you all a hint.......

why, in God's name, do truckers constantly blast the general public about "if you got it, a truck brought it", or "everything you touch, a truck brought it", or, "without trucks, the country would shut down"..........

most sound familiar now....???

to vent out some of those sentences to another trucker, is........well.......

preaching to the chior. why can't some of you who are so frustrated with the general public's view on trucking, and even the government, get involved with public speaking events, and LET THE PUBLIC KNOW....???

time after time, i will be sitting in the library at my house (yeah, you know, the crapper), reading some trucking magazine, and some "preacher or two, or even three", will preach TO US what trucking is all about..........

I DON'T NEED TO KNOW what its all about.......and do you really need to know too....????

but i'll bet the public would like to know.........

STOP PREACHING TO THE CHOIR.....

So are you saying you don't want to be reminded on how valuable we truckers are to Americas economy?
You don't like reading about the truth,of how we move all of our nations goods?

How most of us truckers are safety minded, and a very helpful group of citizens?

Well then thats ok just disregard this post reply to your thread starter.

I hope everything comes out ok when your removing your unwanted body wastes, sitting on your one hole library seat.
Please don't forget the paper work when you feel everything has exited, into the water!

nooooo.........

what i am saying is that truckers vent thier frustrations to other truckers, especially the sentence, "if you got it a truck brought it"........(or words to that effect).

truckers need NOT to remind us about this..

its the GENERAL public that needs to know this. we know our jobs, what we do, how we do it, when we do it, why we do it.

so to "preach" to to us is useless. we don't need "preaching" about the trucking world.

and by the way, i've been "trucking" for 20 years now..........

i don't need to be constanly reminded about my job, from another trucker..

go tell it to the public, by volunteering your time, or write letters to the local newspaper, to INFORM THE PUBLIC......

it's like, a doctor telling another doctor how valuable thier expertise is to each other, and not letting the public know anything.

but, a doctor informing the public about certain health risks, gets the message to the people WHO NEED TO KNOW....

Well then in many ways this truckingboard is a forum for our trucking peer group to vent, our frustrations to each other.

Don't you have to have an out let of people that can relate to you?
The general public really don't care about us.
They don't like driving around us.
They think we are all a bunch of maniacs taking up their lanes.

As much as most four wheel drivers that can't relate to us,and don't care to,they all want to go to their favorite store, get what they need which all came there by trucks, then go home to enjoy their purchases.

So in your opinion what do you think the truckingboards are for if we can't squall, and bawl, our hearts out to one another?

yes, message boards, and trucking magazines are for "bawling your hearts out", but its falling on deaf ears. when i read a magazine or see something on ANY message board about the industry and its the SAME OL' CRAP, how much can we take of it..?? how many times can we hear about (say for instance) the lumper problems, or the traffic problems, or the pay problems, or whatever else.?

it IS the general public, who by the way pay higher prices for what the buy, but, if they don't know the process of which the freight is going to them, they will never understand OUR problems and work a solution to resolve it. by constantly griping about the above mentioned problems to only ourselves, limits the conceptual knowledge of people who SHOULD know.

if more truckers were to write letters to newspapers, which by the way, people do read, those very same people will start (albeit slowly) to understand the industry's hardships WE FACE DAILY. we as drivers, or O/O's don't need to hear from another trucker about high fuel prices, or lack of parking spaces, or fee's paid to be loaded/unloaded.

to "vent out" say because a driver had to drive an extra half hour or his dispatcher has a grudge against him is something the general public wouldn't be interested in, so saying it here (or any other venue)would be OK.

but the constant griping about (what i mentioned above), is falling on deaf ears, as its the same ol', same ol', and THAT never changes. there's never a month that goes by, that i won't read in my magazines how some driver had to pay for a lumper......so what.....??? same ol', same ol'..........

gripe about more meaningful things, like how you missed the kid's birthday, or how the wife threw a fit when you didn't get home, or how your teenage daughter is dating the entire Hell's Angel's.......

Well I do ,do my part by drawing cartoons, and leaving them in resturants I take my wife to eat ate.and also a farm store I buy my lunch at.
Plus they are all over shipping, and receiving offices,as well as loading docks.
Its my way of poking fun at our industry, and life in general.
Everyone seems to love them.
Whenever I go to the UPS supply chain warehouse, the workers are always looking for me to leave them another one.

So you see my truckingboard friend,I am doing my part.

Its my choice to view the brighter side of life, and I'm can whip out a cartoon in under 5 minutes,so I'm not a time cheater.

Waiting for a door,or waiting to be loaded,or unloaded its a great way to pass the time.
And like I say everyone gets a good laugh,as well as another contribution to their companys art gallery.
