Default a dumping i will go

well guys/girls you might know that i got my permit for the "A" back in early july but not being able to afford schooling i met up with a local hauling company running dump trucks, yes i know it is class b but the guy is training me for free and he mantains the heck out of his trucks. i am not being paid much but with the what is is training me for i guess i can't complain now can i.

we do have a verble contract of after i have the full licensence of only 6 months though if he treats me right i will stay as long as i can that would make sence with out putting me into a hole.

working a class B job isn't the end of the world. in fact, many class A drivers "retire" to the vocational segment. yes, you will and DO work longer hours, maybe even up to 7 days a week doing class B, especially if its garbage, or dump trucks, or nearly any construction job. then, when things slow down, or shut down for winter (mainly construction) you either collect unemployment, or pick up some other fill in job till you return back to your regular employer.

congrats on getting this job, you will earn as much (if not more) than the average class A job, but you will put in more hours, BUT, you'll be sleeping in your own bed at night, raiding your fridge at any time you want.

try that, at a truckstop........

after reading my posting, i took another look at your location.........

i highly doubt that you will be NOT working through the winter's down florida.......

Don't worry about what those guys in the shop say, you are doing yourself a BIG favor by learning how to work on trucks, the reason I say that is because if the time comes that you want to own your own truck, you will be miles ahead because you know how to work on them, especially dumps, you will and I mean will have to work on them, even a new one because they take a beating, you will also save tons of money knowing how to do it yourself, I have known lots of guys that have owned dumps and its all the same story, you can make a good living with it, even better if you are able to work on them. oldslowchevy, keep doing what you are doing, you sound like you are doing real well, keep learning, good thing those shop guys don't mind the help too!!!
