Maverick Specialized
There is “The Maverick Way” and there is the “Maverick Specialized Way”.
Maverick Transportation has earned an excellent reputation in the industry. The Specialized Division is new to Maverick, and is still developing its reputation. It is run like an entirely separate company – and even has its own policy manual. So the policies that kept you happy for 14 years (as well as numerous other Maverick flatbed drivers) are not the same policies that are in place on the Specialized side.
Take some time to read my blog all the way through. I think by the time you finish, you will agree that the Specialized Division does things differently than the flatbed side.
Take a close look at the photos and tell me if you have ever pulled a trailer in such poor condition. (If you double click the photos, they will open into a full screen)
The flatbed side has over 1,000 trucks, and the Specialized Division has 450. Have you ever seen 70 empty trucks sitting in the Little Rock yard? I have in the Laurinburg yard. I saw the number of empty trucks grow every time I was in Laurinburg. There is a reason for that.
After I left Maverick Specialized, I created my blog as an easy means to make information available to upper-management at Maverick in Little Rock about the conditions on the Specialized side. I emailed them a link to the blog and hoped they might find it valuable in answering the questions about driver retention in the Specialized Division.
I finally posted the blog (Maverick in the Rear View) at various forums as an answer to the multitude of questions I saw being posed by newbies about the Specialized Division. While the flatbed side has only positive posts, the Specialized side is split. In my blog, I lay out the facts of each week and load. People reading the blog can determine for themselves if that fits their lifestyle or not.
Anyone choosing the Specialized Division can now be fully aware that there are two different Mavericks, and make an informed decision when they choose that Division. It can save both drivers/newbies and Maverick a lot of wasted training time on someone who was expecting “The Maverick Way”.
