Default Numero Uno

Consolidation will eventually lead to just a few big companies like FedEX, Yellow, UPS Freight and once DHL gets into it.
There will always be regional small companies that will survive due to either price or service because we all know bigger doesnt necessarily mean better

With gutless supervisors at Conway, they will not be around. The so-called management in Dalla, Tx will help bring the company down.

Hell, it could even be some company that isn't here NOW...

And if I had to guess, I'd say it would be a non-union company who had the freedom to operate.

When I started in this industry in the early 70's in Chicago, there were literally hundreds of trucking companies around, and at least 95+% of them were union. Where are they all today? GONE. 'Cept for Yellow, Roadway, and ABF (which bought out the company I was working for - Navajo).

Don't mistake this for union bashing. It's just a fact of life about running a business. If you've got an outside force trying to tell you how to run your business, and it's counter to the way you want to run it, you've got big trouble. For the most part, the days of truly abusing your employees are gone, though I'm sure someone could point to some schlock outfit that may be doing it. And it too will go away.

Interesting poll though. I'm shocked at how many truck lines are GONE since I started over 30 years ago. We all thought we had it 'made' back then, working for bedrock companies...
