I had an OHIO state trooper check me out at a Home Depot one time.I delivered my load and when I came out to leave he was sitting in front of my truck and when I asked him what was up he said I am here to perform a safety check would you please pull your rig over here to the side for me .. I pulled it to the side like he asked and he did his little break check and I was on my way in about 10 min.
NJ was the worst place I ever been checked. I got off the Jersey pike at exit 5 (when I drove for Red Star) one time and NJDOT was sitting at the toll booth and when I pulled thru they did their thing right there in the middle of the ramp. Put me Out of Service but let me take the truck to the terminal (Phila) since I was only about 5 miles away. Never did figure that one out. Phila mechanic said they do that all the time.He corrected the problem (break adjustment only) and ran the paperwork back over to the inspector..I guess it was one of those money making things.
