i just got my cdl and i'm thinking about beocoming an o/o and hooking up w/ fedex...fedex pays roughly $2/mile, and if my calculations are correct, i should be getting around 2000 miles/week, which would come out to roughly $16,000/mo....after all the expenses i should be walking away with roughly 10,000/mo.....are these numbers realistic? i know i don't have any experience, but on the other hand, i'm in my mid 20's w/ no expenses, no family to feed, plenty of reserves in the bank, and pretty much nothing to lose...i know you guys are probably thinking, "here's another guy who thinks he's just going to jump in, and become a millionaire overnight"....that's not the case, i know it's hard work, and i'm ready for that....i'm just trying to figure out the profit margin and trying to get some feedback from the experts....am i crazy? any input would be greatly appreciated

Well no one has replied because your thoughts are crazy. I believe you are looking at FedEx Ground which hires O/O's. And they require at least one year of OTR experience. I am unfamiliar with the rules right now, but if you want to make money, at least $1,000 as a newbie you can be helped.

actually they do not require any experience...i have a driver who is going to drive for me....the loan for the truck is done even though i have no experience...i've talked to the reicruter @ fedex plenty of times, and he took care of the insurance for the truck....everything is basically done, all i have to do is have my driver show up for the orientation, put the logos on the truck and install the communication stuff.....im just trying to figure out the math to make sure that it makes financial sense and that i can make a profit.....and it seems like i cant get a straight answer out of anyone....obviously there has to be $$ in this business, otherwise nobody would do it....im just trying to figure out how much $$ i can realistically make and if my math is right...

thanks booboy....now we're getting somewhere...i'm just trying to work out the numbers to make sure that it's profitable, just like any normal person w/ a 1/2 a brain would do....obviously i'm trying to make $ just like everyone else...so my next question is, if all you're making is roughly $1.15/mile, with all the expenses, you would be in the negative....how does that even make sense?? how do you make any money?? like i said, i know people that own 12+ truck and i know they're making $, but it seems that nobody wants to share any info.....

heres a website that has some info... FedEx Ground Trucking Jobs and Employment
they DO want some experience. if you are driving... if you are a fleet manager... than you probably dont need any....
Teams get the most miles.... you get very good fuel discounts..
i thought about it.... but i have no exp.... now i do... so maybe i will think about it again.... i always wanted to own my own truck.
