Default wow...no advice...

wow...i'm kind of surprised....my last post:

http://www.truckingboards.com/trucki...-opinions.html

had 18 views...no replies....seems like people in the trucking industry either don't like newbies or are afraid of the competition....i guess you just have to go out there, figure it out yourself and blaze your own path....i guess people nowadays just aren't willing to help each other..

demilo welcome to truckingboards it's nice to have you here with us.

Most of us here are in the LTL end of trucking and know little about your question.
There are some here that have been in the o/o end you are interested in but may not have been here to reply.

I invite you to read through some of our archives and you might find some answers to your questions.

I hope you have more patience in your business adventure than you have had so far with getting answers here.

Best of luck on a successful carrier in the O/O field if you do decide to do it.

thanks hillbilly.....i appreciate your response...i know i'm a bit ADD....but i like to cut through the bull***t, and get straight to the point...either the numbers work, or they don't....either it makes sense, or it doesn't....now i've read about horror stories about people being o/o and going belly up in no time...but i've also seen people that are no smarter than me get really successful....like i said, i'm not trying to become a millionaire overnight....i'm just trying to get an idea of what the profit margin is to see if realistically it's even worth my time and $$....thanks again

I have a cousin that does 0/0.He is bringing home about 1200 a week.He drives 2400 miles a week to bring home that. His miles are off/on.He might get 2400 one week the next he might get 1200.His rate was .90 with .25 fuel surcharge. He was pulling for the railroad. He just started a company yesterday that will pay 1.05 a mile plus fuel surcharge. You can make a little bit of money if you sign with a good company or broker. Then you have to get the miles to make money. It might be good enough if you drive for yourself, but to have someone drive for you, then you will probably make no money. His truck is paid for,so that why he can do okay.If he would had to make payments then its really not worth doing in his case.Best to go get a ltl job or something. You will bring home more money with out the headaches of an 0/0,if you can get a good bid and some seniority behind you .He did about 90,000 gross his first year.It was good enough for him,but to have to pay a driver no way it will work.Maybe you can get 2000 miles a week.I think the average pay i heard of is .95 to 1.25.
