Exclamation Overweight Steers

Okay, Guys, I've got a problem and John just started getting tickets for it.
2007 KW T2000 with a Cat C15. Steers are 13300 with an empty trailer when we have the trailer sucked up to save fuel. We had the 5th wheel moved back and can be legal weight loaded with a full tank IF the trailer is slid all the way back. Now we're losing a half mile a gallon. Loads usually weigh under 25000.
John talked with one mechanic trying to get the fuel tanks moved back. He said it would be more trouble than it is worth because they would have to replace lines and the fuel guage would be off.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks,
Lulu

Lulu;

You are pretty much stuck with the configuration you have.

A shorter wheelbase on the next tractor will help.

You can try running with the fuel level lower, or changing to smaller fuel tanks.

Fuel gauge accuracy will not be affected if you move the tanks. The total cost to move the tanks should be under $500.
