As far as I am concerned they need to leave them alone with the exception of giving the sleeper teams a break on spending a full 10 hours in the bunk. 5 on 5 off always worked very well with my body clock way back when I drove team. Of course the powers that be will never be able to regulate when a driver needs to take a power nap, etc.
Amen!!!! It seems that this current bunch in Washington has done nothing more than to make a mess out of trucking,,what we had worked just fine.I have heard drivers cry about losing as much as $250.00 a week if this stands I believe they are crazy. Most all these fleets are not running anymore miles than previous ask anyone working for a major Truck-load company.
Now when I had my own truck and was leased to a small carrier with no satellite or any other way of tracking me I lied and cheated and ABUSED that 34 hour restart relentlessly.. I can honestly tell you that restart makes it easier for an "outlaw" to cook the books..
My main question here is .Where was the ATA on the Mexican truck "pilot program" I don't think they were worried about the American trucker there.. Lest we forget these people at the ATA never have the truckers best intrest in mind.
