Default The life of a OWNER OPERATOR

What would make your job better?
If all owner ops was dispatched from one place and paid from one entity, like having your own company (owned & operated by owner ops) would this help?
Getting better rates help if so how much?
Would having qualified employment apps in one place for you to hire directly would this help?

What can we do to help company drivers become owner ops?

What can we do for you the OWNER OPERATOR / SMALL FLEET OWNERS?

Dirtball,

Read this post very carefully. I smell a solicitation or commerical trying to get in under the radar.

I truly want to know what would help the owner operator survive? I am not selling anything! Right now I do a couple of things,
1. I screen applicants for a logistics company which is why I posted an ad looking for owner operators in that forum.
2. I want to GIVE the OWNER OPERATOR EVERYTHING I CAN! to be able to help the hard working drivers that are serious about their professions.
3. I am training to become a master freight broker and acheive my own authority to continue to give the owner operator what I can. Tell me would a owner operator be greatful to receive 100% of what the load pays? That is my first goal. The next goal would come from the responses I get from this post. You ask how can I do this it's my secret!
So why am I doing this you ask? I have been a professional driver since 1986, I have literally broke my back for this employment.
I can not drive anymore but driving is all I know and love regardless of what it thinks of me. You ask why I am not trying to help the company driver? Because he has to do what he is told by the company. They will eat the profit for themselves that is just the way it is when you work for someone else and there is no way to negotiate that.
Change is coming and I hope to be in front of it. So if my posts are bad then I am truly sorry!

Default here's a shot

If I could consistently put $1 per mile in my pocket after expenses I would be an owner op. Last company I worked for their company trucks averaged $1.22 a mile. That was before fuel went up so maybe that's 10 percent higher now. Still not enough for me. I hate working on trucks and the hastles involved so its worth it to me to work for a company now.
