Cool If the mold fits or Truckstop showers

We all need to take showers. If for no other reason that it cuts down on you getting your butt kicked because you smell really really bad!

Most showers at a truckstop are busy and the average time a person is in the shower is 20 minutes. You can just about figure out how many drivers in a day are shuffled through the showers!

In between each shower user a person comes along and is suppose to clean and disinfect the shower for the next person.
The above is actually a fairy tale!!

At the most the cleaning will consist of some yutz with a wet mop that smells like Pine sol and they swipe it around a couple times and maybe they splash some water around the shower, sink and flush the toilet.
Not a pretty thought is it?

My suggestion to you newbies is.....

Bring your own towels and washcloths because I truly believe the towels provided by the truckstops are NOT washed after each use. They are most likely tossed into the dryer to dry so they can get them ready for the next flow of drivers coming in.
Think about it,those showers are always busy! So there is no flipping way they can keep up for the demand of towels!

Bring a pair of shower shoes(rubber flipflops) they may just save your feet from developing a nasty case of fungus! Like I said most truckstop personal have a few short minutes to get the shower ready for its next occupant.

A can of Lysol disinfectant spray will be a good idea too! Just a few sprays of that around will also combat those nasty creepy fungi and bacteria. Make sure you give your shower shoes a bit of a spray too, that way you aren't dragging some of those unwanted guests with you.

There ya have it! Some simple hygiene tips for keeping the grunges at bay while trucking.

Cleanliness might be next to godliness but being clean on while trucking will save you from being shunned at the truckstop....LOL

actually you left out perhaps the most important hygiene fact................

DO NOT SIT ON ANYTHING..........

you don't know what was "left behind" (no pun intended) from another's "privates".... that touched that bench or stool, or chair you so flagrently sit on..........

no disinfectant spray can kill EVERY THING......

hmm ok when working on the horse tracks i had to use dorm showers. i found that if you take clorox wipes to wipe the seat...as i cant squat without sprinkling ..and wipe it all down and take a small spray bottle of 1/2 clorox and 1/2 water and spray down the whole shower area ...before you shower..usually best to do this while your brushing your teeth or sitting and reading that magazine..give it 5 minutes before you step into the shower that clorox will and can kill everything. hence i never had fungus or funk of any kind in the 6 years i used the dorm showers and bathroom.

We watched the manager at the new Love's in Tucumcari tell an employee to take the bath towels to the laundry mat and dry them. The employee asked shouldn't I wash them first? The manager replied that all the drivers do is dry off with them so no need to wash them.

You never know, but most people wash the towels. I just don't like getting the ones that are threadbare and rough. You should smell detergent smell or exchange them. Pretty obvious I would think.
