| | We Whine, We Cry, but do we Stand United?
First and Formost, I am a Trucker, Second I come from a line of Truckers and Our Son in law is a Trucker.
Together Truckers in General will Complain about too low of wages, the Mexican Truckers comming into our Country and taking away our jobs.
And Yet What do we do about it? Sure we post messages, maybe some of us contack our Reps and even join OOIDA, or are a Teamster. Yet, What have we DONE ABOUT IT?
When someone suggest that if all Trucking were to stop in the U.S. for at least 3 days, to show this country that they need us, (After all everything is shipped and delivered by Truck.) There are just TOO many that will say, oh I can't afford to do that, because they are looking at their wallet and bills today and not thinking about their future.
And so............... The Trucking Wages haven't been up since what the "80's"? And now because we "can't afford it" the Mexican Trucks are going to be comming into our Country and taking our loads. Believe me you won't be able to afford that either!
Sure we can say we let the Reps stand in front of the powers to be to represent us, the Truckers. Yet, we all know, it's all about the money and it's a bunch of politics.
I told my husband the other day, that in about 20 years, the "American Trucker" will no longer exsist. Since the Mexican Truckers are going to be allowed into our country and be able to take any loads, how long do you think before most of our loads go to the Mexican Trucker? After all they will work "cheaper" and our money will leave our country, thus putting us all in a world of hurt.
Sure for the Big Business they'll make tons of money, savings on the shipping cost, yet we all know the consumer won't get a break on the retail price. Not to mention how many of us are going to be without jobs?
If you don't believe me just take a look at History, how many of our jobs (companies) have left the U.S. for cheaper labor?
So I ask you.......Can we really not afford 3 days off of work?
Election day........ Every American Citz. has the right to vote period. Our jobs have to allow us to be home and vote, or they (the Companies) are breaking the law. Yet, many Drivers won't let their company know they must be home to vote. (By law they have to have you home to vote, if you let them know you want to be, it's your right.)
Yet, sad but true, many Truckers will give up their right to vote and stay out on the road. Even if someone chooses not to vote, after all you don't have to prove that you did vote, yet you have the right to be home for it.
What a golden time.......to take 3 days off of work.....after all Truckers do get Sick.
Ahhh...but the American Trucker, will complain, grumble and wine about the way things are........Yet will they all "Stand United" and take 3 days off together? Nope you won't see it happen.
Meanwhile.........our wages don't go up, and the Mexican Trucks will in the end be taking our loads........it's only a matter of time.

It would be nice to know how many drivers there is in the U.S (legal citizens). I have been trying for years trying to unite drivers. Yes wages are starting to increase but the cost of operation has sky rocketed so does it help? Yes and no. I believe I have came up with a plan today to really make a difference for Owner Ops to really grab on to our economy and take charge. I need to investigate this a little more but even company drivers would be shocked what I found. There is so much freight and not enough drivers. drivers want more money, companies want their freight moved tell me if you just saw how to put this together. We can move more freight and double our income easily and legally. I have a post or a thread going now and one of the comments a driver was talking about is consistently making a certain range of money. Like I said in my post in my thread change is coming and I will be in front of it and we will never unite everyone, In fact probably noone until they see my trucks and then and only then will they might understand what I have been talking about, and yes UNITED WE WILL STAND AND DIVIDED WE WILL FALL!

i've been driving for 20 years now.........what's yer point...?? you can't get drivers to do anything after you chit-chat with them either here on the web or at a truckstop. when we all leave, we basically say, "let them handle it, i ain't got the time"..............
so what you're saying is nothing new, some ol', same ol' rhetoric...........
like my "jersey" friends would say.....

True they leave the truckstop and the forums and say, "Let them handle it, I don't have the time."
It just amazes me how the American Truckers really control the Movement and Productiveness of this country; without us, no one would have jobs, supplies, or food. Including our Govt. and Military.
Truckers are the main "Working Force" in this nation; Yet we are the "Weakest/Whimpest" in so many more ways. FACTS: "Leave the Truck Stops and Forums and let them Handle it, We don't have time! Not a problem, Bush and others are doing just that for you. |

The problem with shutting down is there are too many company drivers, they can't, Tankersley would take a dump in their drawers if I told them I wasn't running, to show America a thing or two, of course I could just go to my union, not everyone has that luxury, what would happen to Joe fuel hauler when he told the company he was sitting still for two days to teach America a lesson. Until we are all uninted as one we will suffer in two's. Mabey all company drivers accross the board should get together and demand UNION then a collective truckload bargain could begin, no more waiting for free boys, how bout it....wait, I'm talking about truck drivers, close knit went out with my Dads generation thats sad...you sure can see it in todays trucker........I wish we could figure out a way.
