Smith, I guess every location is different, a good place to get your feet wet though, hard work never hurt anyone, my feet are waterlogged and I still work hard, its not for everyone though. Just bring a strong body with you or you won't survive this kind of work.

usually a union type of job (at least here coke/pepsi are), long hours, heavy lifting, stocking shelfs in the stores, slipping, sliding on the wet floors when it rains or snows, people in your way as you try not to drop your "2 wheeler", long hours, oh yeah, did i mention the long hours....???
i did a short, and i do mean short gig with pepsi some years ago as a temp driver from a leasing company.........
i lasted 4 days, jumped out of the truck, engine still running, trailer still hooked up, jumped into my car, and said..... |

It's tough work and even tougher hours but you will make decent money and be home every night. Around here, pepsi (pepsi americas) and coke (coca cola enterprises) paid better and were better jobs overall. I'm not sure how it is over there in columbus. If RC isnt union over there, go with coke or pepsi (assuming they're union).

If you are set on route work, get into food service, I don't have to rotate squat, there are a few customers I do it for, my choice, they are very good to me, the biggest complaint I hear from the beer, pop, guys are dealing with convienience store mgrs, I deliver to convenience stores myself but I drop it in the freezer and forget about it, I don't put anything up, just drop it on the floor, of the cooler, freezer, dry storage, whatever. I don't feel bad about it, friday I had 673 cases going to 8 schools in Springdale AR there are only women at these schools, I still drop it on the floor, I wouldn't last very long if I had to put it up to, I have one school that I help her put up the freezer groceries, she also loads me up with cookies for me and my little ones. Foodservice is tough enough, I wouldn't want to be in beverage.
