Default New Driver looking for a comapny

Ok, soon-to-be new driver...

Let me start by saying sorry for starting another "Where should I go" thread, but after reading numerous threads on here for a few weeks now I feel like I had better seek some help. My situation may or not seem odd but I guess I am too indecisive.

About me: I am 31 years old and decided to go for a career change. So I decided to give driving a shot and it has always been something I have wanted to try. I took the plunge and enrolled in a training school here in the Omaha area. Of the 4 week program, I have one week left and still have no idea where I am going. I will get my picture taken for my CDL with all endorsements (pending TSA clearance for the HazMat) as all tests are passed.

As far as where to go after next week, there are a lot of options. Yes the Werner HQ is here in Omaha and I do have a pre-hire with them, but I want to look around. My school has contacts with Werner, TMC, Swift and Trans Am as well as others. I want a decent company with decent pay, good equipment, as normal, and being that I have no kids, wife or girlfriend, I am going OTR.

And one more wrench to throw in the mix...my cousin is attending school now as well but will not turn 21 until January but we want to try running teams when he can and will run local until then. So add in a team friendly company. We would prefer west and/or southeast from the Omaha area.

Anyone have any suggestions?

since you live so relatively close to werner, go there. get some experience, then jump ship later if you want. you're actually quite lucky. out here, there aren't any "big" trucking companies like werner or swift, or schnieder. we have to go by bus, plane or train or automobile, to get to those places.

If you dont mind flatbedding, I would go with TMC because they pay pretty good.

I would go with US Xpress. Top of the line equipment, team oriented, otr, comparable pay and benefits to the other large truckload carriers that take students fresh out of school.
As for Werner I would recommend taling to a few of their drivers first. The ones I have encountered are not happy with the pay or the paperless logs.

Have you put any thought into Crete and their family of trucking companies?
