Default Employment at Alvan Motor Freight

Hi,

Fellow truckers and union brothers,

I have a question about Alvan, what do u guys know about them and are they a good outfit to work for.

On there website they are hire for city and road at different places.I have heard there complete Hire in package is the same as the bigboys. Except for the 10 percent give back.

And from talking with acouple of there local city drivers in cols they don't overhire and seem to work u year round without layoffs.

Any info would be appreciated, and enjoy that beer.

Aikidostudent, I've moved this thread to the General drivers forum instead of keeping it in the Yellow forum. You'll get more responses this way.

I don't know much about Alvan but from what I've heard they are a decent company to work for and have a pretty good reputation in their area.

They are represented by the Teamsters Union. They run pretty lean on the workforce, so there is pretty good possibilities for overtime and long runs. They are on a 10% giveback, but that is still better wages than most non-union companies (figured with the full Teamsters benefits they do recieve). I have talked and drank several beers with Alvan drivers whenever I lay in Michigan. They are a great bunch of hardworking guys and gals. Smaller company with family orientated operation. Good luck and I hope this helps, if they were in Milwaukee, WI I would have given them a shot.

What's up with Alvan hauling NM trailers? or is it the other way around ? I dont remember seeing that before these last couple of weeks. I'm guessing buyout or interlining...

Alvan doesn't cover WI, but NM does. They interline both ways as NM does not cover outside of IA MN WI IL and IN. I havn't seen it for a while either, but that is how it used to be. NM is a good outfit too.
