Question Log Book Sleeper Berth?

My boss and I disagree regarding proper log book procedure. Of course the boss is always right even when he may not be, but---. I am a solo driver and have been logging my 10 hr off time as "off duty" even when sleeping in the truck. He says I should log that as "sleeper berth". Who is right and where can I go to verify correct answer?

Log it as you do it is the best advice anyone can give you. The 4 ways to a proper 10 hour break are:
1st 10 consecutive hpurs of sleeper berth time.
2nd 10 consecutive hours off duty.
3rd Any consecutive combination of off duty time and sleeper berth time added together to met the 10 hr requirement (so long as the driver did not log any time on lines 3 or 4 within that 10 hr period)
4th Split sleeper berth requires 8 consecutive hours in the sleeper then 2 more hours as either sleeper or off duty time to legitimate the split. The problem with this is you never will get your 14 hr clock reset and have only "delayed" your stop time by the 8 hours spent in the sleeper. It is more practical to take the extra 2 hours immediately so you have a fresh 14 hour window AND a new 11 hour driving period (provided you have not exceeded the 60 hr/7 day rule or 70 hr/8 day rule.
FMCSR (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations)will have the same answers if you want to look them up.

Since you do have a sleeper on your tractor: I tend to agree with your boss. The reason why (from all the training classes I have attended) is this: under FMCSA rules your break should consist of at least 8 hours sleep & two hours of off duty / not driving . By logging this as "sleeper berth " it gives the appearance of you using this as rest time . Theoretically you could log 10 hours "off-duty" stay in a casino all night , not sleep any : jump back in the truck & attempt to drive . This is not what the rules were intended for but, I'm sure has happened more than once. So for the "appearance " of complying with the rules, I agree with your boss.
