Default Turn Signal Question

I am starting to see trailers with turn signals crossed the wrong way more often. Mostly company drivers with doubles.Usually the front trailer blinks one way and the dolly or second trailer blinks the opposite direction. Are these guys just in a hurry nowadays and checking turn signals with fourways instead of checking each way seperatly? It used to be just once in a while you saw that but it seems to be more than a little bit lately.

my pre-trip inspection consists of, jumping in the truck and starting it up. if it starts, i do my yard moves (i currently work as a yardman)...........if the truck does not start, i jump into another one. i leave any "so-called" pre-trips to my drivers, who frankly, don't seem to do any actual pre-trips either.

when i DID run the road, my pre-trip consisted of, jumping in the truck, starting it up, turning on the 4 ways, then i was done...........pups (doubles), or single trailers........forgedaboudit........if the truck broke down i got paid by the hour to sit and wait (union shop).............

afterall, its electrical, anything can happen once you leave the yard, when every thing WAS working properly......

in all honesty, as a company driver, i think many of us really don't seem to care anymore.

its all a different "tune to sing" when you're an O/O, as you then got to pay for all repairs, plus that tow bill yourself.......so the "smart" O/O will do a real pre-trip, then a post-trip inspection........

I don't know.I had thirty years ( Mostly with Union Freight carriers) and the one thing I always did ( no matter what the weather was ) made sure my signals worked the way they were supposed to.At Night it was quite easy actually. All ya had to do in most cases was look in your mirrors at the reflections on the ground. I guess it was because I mostly ran places like NYC and Phila and Boston and DC.. I know now that I am retired I still have tha habit of pretripping my personal vehicles.I actually check my lights and signals everyday I drive ( at least once a day ) and when I have my camper hooked its each time I start.. Just personal satisfaction I guess.

Well allow me to be the first person to introduce myself Raafi! My name is Jason and I do a pretrip AND a post trip every day. Of course I have an assigned truck so it is easy for me to keep up with it and the fact it is less than a year old doesnt have any problems (yet). The successful drivers out here (meaning the money makers) do inspect their equipment several times a day. Walkaround after every stop as a matter of fact. I consistently make good pay because I inspect my truck and catch problems right away (in the past) and get them fixed while I take my break. Its all about "time management" and making sure you have a safe ride.
