Booboy has a spectacular aura aboutBooboy has a spectacular aura about
Default Garbagemen = Stupid peoples

There are some people who think we are uneducated, overpaid workers. Some of the comments found.

Everyone serves a purpose in life and what they do. Should it matter what someones profession is, I dont think so!? A truck driver whatever kind of truck they are driving, had to obtain a CDL which means they study and took a test. Some drivers go to truck driving school. Let me see who is the ill smarted ones. Go to school for x amount of years get paid 30 thousand a year. Go to truck driving shcool for x amount of weeks, earning 45 to 150 thousand a year if not more depending on the driving job. I would say that a truck driver is smarter in that aspect. Without trucks the world stops. Everything you own, touch, see or smell has been on some kind of truck at some point in time. Makeup, cars, toys, beds, clothes, any and everything touches a truck. Ive drove over the road, to local driving jobs. Respect truck drivers, they move the world! , so do trash men.

These truck drivers who moved the tv you watch every night the bed you sleep on every night, are on the roadsaway from their families in order to provide for their families. Its not an easy job, its metaly and physically challenging. Having a job whether its a trash man, or a lawyer should not matter, you are working and thats ALL that matters. So to those who dont respect the trash man or truck drivers, move out of your house and sale all your stuff because you wouldnt have it without truck drivers!!!

Here are the facts...to be a garbage man you do not need to go to university or college or an insitution. You just need a get a drivers license but rather than a car its a truck and learn how to use the truck like you would with your car and learn how to use the machine that crushes all the garbage. WOW that is such a easy job and there getting paid 24.60 and hour. Compare to a receptionist working for a company and needs education only earns an average of $30 - 35,000 a year. Especially now the trucks pick up the bins, they just have to drive and operate the machine. Why should we pay u more then 45K which is already a lot. Your just Sanitation Engineer aka a more professional way of saying you are a garbage man or janitor.

Those people who are educated..go to university or college..any kind of Post-Secondary school and start off with around 30K Garbage people and bus drivers get that amount of money easily compare to others.

Main Point!!!! To be a "Sanitation Engineer" or a "Bus Driver" you DO NOT NEED TO GO TO UNIVERIST OR ANY POST SECONDARY SCHOOL. ITS A JOB FOR THE PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT EDUCATED WELL AND MAKE MORE THEN THE PEOPLE WHO ARE EDUCATED AND DO MORE WORK THAT IS DESERVING OF WHAT GARBAGE MAN MAKES.

Hey all garbage people...you want more money..go to post-secondary and get a better education!!!! like all of us. Rather then picking up trash for the rest of your life....garbage man = uneducated or little education...a job that requires very little INTELLIGENCE!!!

to those who support the unions and the garbage men, so how much exactly should we pay these people who have little education, and isn't mastering a trade that doesn't really take anything to master anyway?

why can't we just use simple demand and supply to adjust wages? 45k is way to much for garbage picking and they want a raise? bull shti. if we have hard working people who are getting the job done well and right, we do not need to protect their jobs, they can protect their own jobs. so obviously they're guilty as charged for being lazy asses and is looking for cover.

Well, I definitely do not agree with all of the name calling on this site. I agree that obviously, garbagemen/women perform an important role in society - but I do also think that compensation should be commensurate with other similar roles. One should look at education and training, job risk, impact of the job on peoples lives etc. I am sorry o all of the garbage folk out there, but I truly believe if we had privatized garbage pick up, none of you would be making $23/hr to start. A 16% wage increase would take you up to over $26/hr!

I came out of university with 50K in loans and gave up five years of full time salary, and I make almost fifty thousand a year. Somehow, I do not agree that someone emptying trash into a truck via an automated service deserves an equal amount/ if not more than a university educated, professional.

Jeremy the garbage man, says do you know why we make so much money? Because we work 10 to 13 hours a day. In rain, snow, heat, whatever. Try getting up at 4:00 a.m. everyday and work until 6:00 or 8:00 p.m every day. Try the physical work that it takes to lift 800 to a 1000 homes of garbarge or recycling per day. It takes a real man to do this job, that is why everyone is not qualified! It takes more than just a license to do this job. It takes more training and knowledge than you think.

wtf are you talking about garbage men lift stinky trash
truck drivers use machines to lift bins in alleys...

but yep they are way overpaid 23 bucks an hour is too much

Garbagemen ARE stupid people. They should be paid on a commision for what they manage to pick up. Some of them should earn less than minimum wage. There are people in this world who would do that job for a dollar a day and be happy.

All i can say is wow!! Who would of thought people look down on us like that.I tell my kids dont be ashame of my career. This is not a job for me.

Next Question: What is the Point ?

Most garbage men I know work hard for their money. At least they are working ,Not stealing anything and not drawing welfare.

I wouldn't want to be a house to house garbage man. Where I am they have a big area to cover daily and just like any other biz their bosses want them to do more pickups a day in the same amount of hours.

They work hard ver hard, are out in all kinds of weather, brutually hot and humid to freezing cold with rain and snow.

Come to think of it I can't remember my garbage not being picked up on the day it should have been.

If they make $23 an hour I say good for them, they deserve it.........

I couldn't agree more. They deserve every cent they earn.I make sure they get coffee or a cold drink Coke or tea when they come pick up my trash.

The author of the beginning thread in this post claims to have spent 5 years in University.

Shame they don't teach or enforce the English language where he studied.

I wonder if he has any idea what is in the garbage that his next door neighbour tosses away. Some of it could be quite toxic. Health concerns are quite high in the sanitation end of the city.

It is also a shame that as a University Graduate (I think- he did not confirm his degree), he only earns $50,000 a year. As a lowly, uneducated truck driver I am well on my way to $110,000 this year.

I hear that little violin playing.

I agree pcuthbert ! Let's cue the violins!

I hope you feel better now that you got all that off your chest. Your rant has been duly noted sir.

Otherwise I think we will be reading about you and an assault rifle terrorizing some unsuspecting neighborhood while driving a garbage truck!

Relax, not everyone in the world disrespects garbage haulers. I like the guys that collect mine and I even give Xmas bonuses because these guys have been damn good to me.
