Default PennDOT, Turnpike Authority press ahead on I-80 tolls

Friday, Oct. 12, 2007 – Officials from the Pennsylvania Turnpike Authority and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission are reportedly ready to ink a deal that will convert Interstate 80 to a toll road.
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported today that officials from the two agencies are prepared to sign a 50-year agreement creating a “unique public-public” partnership to generate $116 billion.
The deal amounts to the DOT leasing the road to the Turnpike Commission to operate it as a toll road.

Why doesn't the government just take our pay checks and let us live on welfare? Give us food stamps and a medical card for our pay check.Just another money scam from our fine government in action.
When are we gonna wake up and have a revolt to stop this crap ? I guess NEVER. We just complain and put up with this stuff .

Well they went and signed the agreement. All about the money..When this is in place ( No reason for the Feds to turn it down ) The tolls will be as much as the Pa pike tolls. A couple of ways around it (from the West ) is.

Southern Route I-68 in Maryland to I-70 to I-81 North to I-78 East.
Middle Route is : From the Youngstown,Ohio area Rt 422 East to Rt 22 East to Rt 322 East to I-81 North to I 78 East..
Northern Route from the Cleveland,Ohio area is : I-90 East to I-89 East to Either Rt 15 South or Stay on I-89 East to Binghampton,NY and Choose your route from there.

This is just wonderful... we run 80 a lot.. our company already forbids us to take 76... now I wonder what their decision will be on allowing their drivers to run 80...

If your company wants you to run I-80 then they might consider going thru Jamestown and over to Binghamton then down to Scranton or once in Binghamton stay on I-89/rt17 to Middletown NY.Believe it or not this way is only about 1 or 2 hours longer..The rt 422 is 1 hour longer.I used to run that route a lot when I drove for yellow.
