Default Trucking/vocational schools in northern Virginia

Hello all,

I'm new to the boards and new to trucking, having recently started to think seriously about a career switch.

I've had my eye on Schneider, but from what I've read so far and also from what a friend has told me, taking a CDL trucking course in a vocational school would be the best route because you get more time to practice and learn. Does anyone know of any good schools in northern Virginia that offer a decent, affordable program?

Thanks,

Jeremy

You can try looking here Best Trucking Schools - The best trucking schools in America it goes by region,so you can more or less see if the area you want for schooling has what you want.

Here is another trucking school search engine to try also.

Guide to Best Truck Driving Schools | Free Trucking Schools | CDL Training

I would assume that courses through a community college might be a bit more affordable and you can most likely apply for a student loan to help with exspenses.

Here is one site you can atleast try to find what fits your needs in the area you stated.
Virginia Community Colleges

Maybe someone else on the boards is from Virginia and can offer a more informed opinion.

Best of luck to you and welcome to the boards.

shoot, doswell, va, i used to stop there at exit 98(?) for the truckstop there. can't remember the name now, but it was across the street form King's Dominion..??

as for trucking schools, near there, there is (or was) one i used to pass by on I-95, i think it was called, "alliance" or "allied"...??

i found it: Doswell All American Travel Plaza
