Well I doubt that it is even cutting illegal immigration. The report says that there is a drop in the number of people caught trying to cross the border. It doesn't say there is a drop in the number people trying to cross the border or the number of people crossing the border. It's only going to get worse with the trucks running across the U.S. now. It may start out looking great but as it gets harder for the immigrants to get across on foot the demand will drive some of these would be smugglers to start taking chances and hauling truck loads of people and drugs into the U.S. It has already happened in the past. All we have managed to do is cut out the middle man. That being the American driver who agrees to take them into the U.S.

The agent who reported these "statistics" is way behind the times. All the stuff that's being discussed in this article was happening over 10 yrs. ago! As far as "mules" carrying 60 lbs. on their backs, the strength of mules must be down. They use to carry at least 100 lbs. or more and use military tactics while crossing the border. Crime amongst illegal immigrants. Again, nothing new. Rape, robbery, and murder all happen in an area where little to no law exist. The fact of the matter is that the Border Patrol is understaffed and under equipped for its mission. The motion sensors that they have are crap, they hardly have any night vision or thermal capabilities, and as with any organization they have a few wayward (corrupt) officers. It just ticks me off when they try to use old news to comfort the unsuspecting public.
