Default Scams against our Truckers!

If it wasn't for our trucker's out there, away from home and family, this country would stop running. Yet some places feel the need to scam them and as a result make their jobs all that much more difficult. It's hard enough as it is.

Below is a copy of a complaint sent to various U.S. Government agencies, news offices and even television stations. People need to be made aware of this as it keeps happening.

Approximately 1 am on October 30, 2007 the manager of the Aurora, Colorado Flying J Plaza, a couple of gentleman in a pickup, a tow truck and a policeman banged on numerous truckdriver doors, blocking their trucks and demanding 250.00 each to leave or to be towed, saying that they were paged numerous times inside the building to move their trucks. These drivers were "INSIDE" their trucks, idling so how were they suppose to hear a page INSIDE the building. If they needed to move their trucks then why didnt' someone knock on their doors? They were all in a row.

This smacks of a scam and the authorities will be involved. These drivers spend thousands upon thousands of dollars in your plaza's and they are treated horribly!

Yes, it was very late, your plaza was full and they were not parked legally but the 250.00 CASH or be towed sounds very very sketchy. A copy of this email will be sent to the attorney generals office for investigation, the attorney generals office in Washington D.C. and to the Aurora, Colorado's PD.

If someone is parked illegally then a ticket is issued. Never have I ever heard of an officer standing by while someone is demanding CASH! I believe that there is more to this than meets the eye.

If this story is correct then we need to boycott this particular Flying J..Just like the truck stops that charge you to park overnite.Just why are they called truck stops ? Yeah I know (POLITICAL CORECTNESS) they are now called travel plazas so as not to offend people in cars.

Thanks for your response. Just so you know that this story is in fact correct because I'm the trucker's wife that was woken up at 1:30 am by my husband and got all the info I needed from him and some others.

I was also otr with hubby - seat cover here :) - for over a year and have seen stuff like this everywhere but am just sick and tired of our guys getting screwed by dirty operations like this. '

Slap my man in the head for parking illegally but my gawddddd he was sitting in his truck...tell him to move it!

This is just nuts and if all I can do is get the facts out there then I will.

You all are the BEST! Keep 'em rolling!

Just thought you'd all get a chuckle from the reply I got from Flying J

The truck plaza is privately owned property and state law allows private
business owners to set their own rules regarding how they handle
illegally parked vehicles or other such activity on their private
property.

It is very likely that the person you thought was a police officer was
actually a private security guard hired by the truck plaza to help them
enforce parking issues. I will forward you concern to the Aurora Police
Department, but it does not appear that any city laws have been violated
by the truck plaza.

If you do not like the policies at that truck plaza, or you feel you
have been treated unfairly by the truck plaza management, you should
contact the corporate office at the link below to file a complaint:

That really sucks. ive seen flying j loves the big (t) all of them truck stops so over crowded you can't get in these places so some time your 11 hours are up there is no place to go so you do what you think is not always right but ok you park where you can illegally. the thing is there is no place to park make things worse if you pull dbls a set you get in these truck stops you can never find a place to park cause you can't back them up. there is a lot of trucks out there be carefull out there.....then some states will not let you park on the side of the road side that it self is to danger you never know whats on the side of them roads...
