That is what they get for not having the proper permits.

I'll bet that someones butt is in a sling over this.

I am sure that we all know of someone who has hauled a load that wasn't properly permitted though.

I did heavy haul for 17 years before the LTL business. Pa. permits are a pain in the *****. If they route ya off insterstate all the townships have different laws that don't apply to the state permit, whether its weight or time or even police escorts. One simple thing like a misses turn can void a permit, big pain.$84,000 is stupid period. Trucking companies can't afford that and the cop that wrote that ticket knows that too. All that means is lawyers and years in the court system costing money.

Not to mention where this happened.Pa Rt 219 is a State Rd between Somerset Pa ( PA Turnpike ) and I-68 in Maryland. It is a short cut route.. and MEYERSDALE,Pa sits right in the middle between the two Routes. This is gonna be in the courts for a long time I bet.

One thing I wonder about is where the pilot vehicles were from. If PA local, and they were in the lead, then that fine and the liability may fall on them.

The pilot drivers are supposed to be aware of all permitting and routing. If they led the convoy off route, then it will add to the legal hastles.
