What to do if your brakes fail Quote:
For drivers, it's one of the most frightening situations imaginable: pressing down on the brake pedal and getting no response.
When it happened to Edmund Zorrilla on the rain-slick 210 Freeway in La Verne about six months ago, all he could do was fight off the panic and guide his vehicle to a rolling stop.
Although he got out of the situation safely, the results could easily have been tragic had the early-morning traffic been a little heavier, he said.
"I had no brakes," said Zorrilla, a public affairs officer with the California Highway Patrol's Baldwin Park office. "The fear of running into the back of another car -- that was my fear."
In a horrific crash involving a runaway dump truck in Rancho Cucamonga on Friday morning, San Bernardino County sheriff's officials said the dirt hauler lost its brakes. | http://www.dailybulletin.com/news/ci_3957121 |
